Heat pump sizing for your house
Enter your house details. We calculate the heat needed on the coldest day and compare it with manufacturer capacity tables to suggest suitable kits with estimated yearly costs.
First say whether the heat pump should also heat hot water — the kit and size depend on it. The result appears here after that.
What the calculator takes into account
The calculator takes into account floor area, build year, your town and its coldest days, the heating system and whether hot water is needed. If you know how much fuel you use a year, you can work from that instead.
Heat pumps are compared on manufacturer capacity tables, not just the nominal rating on the box, and you see yearly electricity use and the total cost over 10 years.
On the air-to-air tab each room is sized separately. The result is a forecast, not a guaranteed consumption. Before a contract we visit the site and confirm the size.
Calculator questions
What size heat pump does my house need?
It depends on more than floor area: build year, town and heating system matter too. Two houses of the same size can need several times different output. Enter your details and the calculator shows the heat needed in kW on the coldest day and the sets that fit.
Can the heat pump also heat hot water?
Yes, if you choose a set with a hot-water cylinder. The recommended cylinder size comes from the number of people. If the cylinder in a set is smaller, the card says so.
Why is the recommended heat pump not the most powerful one?
An oversized heat pump switches on and off a lot in mild weather, runs less efficiently and costs more. So we recommend an output that matches the house, not the biggest one available.
Does the calculator price include installation?
No. The calculator shows the equipment price incl. VAT. Installation and delivery are separate lines in the quotation, and we agree the total before you order.
How accurate is the calculation?
Output and consumption are based on manufacturer data and the climate in your region. It is a forecast, not a guarantee; we confirm the final choice after a site visit.
Air conditioner or air-to-air heat pump?
If you only need cooling in summer, an ordinary air conditioner will do. If the room should also be heated in winter, go for an air-to-air heat pump: you can size one on the air-to-air tab.
